Brazillian Keratin Treatments & Chemicals That Can Affect Our Health

Interesting article on Brazillian Keratin Treatments which contains formaldehyde, making people sick.  If you are going to use chemicals whether it be household, perms, relaxers, acrylic nails, etc.. chemicals are chemicals and they can harm you. So pay attention to what they might be doing to your health.

Some people react to the slightest smell and other don't.  Pay attention to your body.  When you see changes, try to think of meds you are taking, smells you are inhaling etc.

From my own personal experience, I was getting terrible headaches and realised that when my BP (Blood Pressure) was high it contributed to making them worst.  When I took Excedrin they went away.  I was sick with the flu at the beginning of the year and again my headaches got worse.  I could not understand why Excedrin, 4 Advil's (at one time) and NyQuil, was not getting rid of it.  My head was also burning on one side.

I had to go to Home Depot for something to take away the smell of an oil spill in my basement.  While asking for help to find this, I was told, I'd better get rid of the smell as it caused headaches.  Ah Ah!! there was my culprit.  I was locked in my bedroom, with the flu, for two weeks, no fresh air and this just made my headaches unbearable.  Needless to say I went home, opened all my window, and yes headaches and burning stopped.  So all I needed to do was open the window to air my house and get rid of the smells too!!!

Stylist have to remember that they are working around chemicals all day, and some harsh ones too, color, bleaching, relaxers, perms, acrylic nails to name a few.  They do so in poor ventilated salons.  Some are affected right away, but for others later on in life they are wondering why they have all these unexplained health issues.  Make sure your area is properly ventilated.

Bridal Photo Shoot

Completed my first photo shoot for the year and a Bridal one too, was very excited about that. I have always wanted to do a bridal shoot. The collaboration was with DanielleCicero the designer for the bridal dresses.  We participated in the Bridal Expo in Hartford, CT, Jan 15-16.  That was fabulous.  Expo was followed by the shoot.  Models, NuNu, Amalia, Monique, Greg and Kristen, were on point and Keith Claytor, Timefrozen was working the camera.  Brettnee Nelson did an excellent job with the makeup as always. Jewellry was made and provided by Jessica Dickens.  Talk about team work...you all rocked!!!

The purpose of the shoot was to showcase Afrocentric Styles for weddings.  Styles consisted of Flat Twists, Natural Hair and Locs see pictures below:
